Wat Chiang Man is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai

The smaller viharn

Phra Sila Lord buddha
The Phra Sila Lord buddha statue is a bas relief stele, sculpted from stone depicting a standing Buddha. The images was most certainly made in Sri Lanka more than a thousand years ago. The highly revered sculpture is believed to hold the power of bringing rain and therefore plays an of the essence role in Songkran festival held in April at the end of the dry season.


Phra Sae Tang Khamani
Phra Sae Tang Khamani , a 10cm high, crystal images, is thought to have come from Lavo (Lopburi) 1800 years ago.


The pagoda Chang Lom
constructed in the 15th century and restored in the 19th, the pagoda Chang Lom (chedi enclose by Elephants) is a unique combination of grey stone and glimmering gold. The bottom part is made of stone and is decorated with Sinhalese-style elephants.
Temple library
South of the pagoda is the temple library, with a red balcony and raised white base to protect the manuscripts. Near the ubosot (19th century) is a stele dating from 1581, which records the foundation of Chiangmai on April 12, 1296 at 4:00 am.
Tour to Wat Chiang Man
located in the core of Chiangmai, within the old walled city on Ratchaphakhinai Road. It's easy to walk to this temple for those staying in the old part of city; otherwise, can take a songtaews (red pick up) for a very minimal fee.
