Chiang Mai Zoo is the initial and only single zoo in the North. based on the base of Doi Suthep, near Chiang Mai Campus. With the stunning panorama, coveredc the hillside and mountainous tropical jungle, you can touch the pure, virgin air in the Zoo which is the close woods of the city.
Chiang Mai Zoo was established by the The Zoological Park Organization, Thailand in 1974. Located on 531 Rai of verdant forest ground at the base of Doi Suthep mountain, the zoo is surrounded by rangy feature that is home to thousands of species of woods plants and flowers festooning the physical landscape of vales, streams and falls not the 1st thing that comes to mind when a lot of people imagine the city, the Chiang Mai Zoo is surprisingly interesting. Covering two hundred acres of land in the foothill of Doi Suthep and providing notable landscapes of the town in accretion to its tempting flora and fauna shows, Chiang Mai Zoo is certainly worthy a vacation, furthermore if you have had your fullness of temples.
Chiang Mai Zoo is huge and you’ve got three solutions for getting around: walk, monorail or van. Most of the main sites can be included in a walking journey but be warned : it’s a fair old stroll and you will discover plenty of mountain. Much of it is however in the colour and cafes and snack bars are generously speckled around the site. Allow two to three hours to do a loop around the central area on foot. The zoo is house to Asian & African mammals as well as a stroll through aviary, koalas & a children's zoo. You can find also a giant aquarium which homes many different varieties of humid fish. In parts of the aquarium it is easy to get up really near to them by trekking through a tunnel under the water.
Chiang Mai Zoo is positioned at the foot hill of Suthep mountain next to Chiang Mai College.
Chiang Mai Zoo opens daily 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Fee: Foreigner - Adult 100 Baht/Child 50 Baht. Child height between 90- 135 cm. are child rate. Child height over 135 cm. are adult rate.

This is exactly a beautiful zoo. They have huge areas for the animals, and it's a good stroll around. It can a hard climb on the hillside without much to view, but the areas to the left of when you first come in is cute simple and has more animals kids would like.
